Hanif Mohammad

Representing the Pakistan Cricket Team in 55 Tests, Hanif Mohammad went on to become the first Pakistani to score a triple-century, averaging 43.98 with 12 centuries.
Like most Pakistan cricketers from the first Test team, Hanif Mohammad played domestic cricket in India – participating in the Ranjhi Trophy, representing Jamnagar.
Hanif Mohammad made his Test debut against India in October of 1952, becoming Pakistan’s top scorer in the first innings. The match was also Pakistan’s first Test match.
The Little Master is known for his match-saving 337 against the mighty West Indies in the 6-day Test match in 1957/58. Holding the feat of the highest score in an away game to date.
In that majestic innings, Hanif Mohammad held his ground for over 970 minutes (over 16 hours) against the West Indies pace attack to help Pakistan – that was following on – draw the match.
Hanif Mohammad’s triple-century is also remembered to be the slowest in Test cricket in terms of time taken.
If the triple-century wasn’t enough, the Little Master scored a mind-blowing 499 in First-Class while playing for Karachi against Bahawalpur. Overtaking Donald Bradman.
No bowler was able to get the Little Master out in that landmark innings as he was run out.
The feat stood for 34 years up till 1994, when Brian Lara overtook the Little Master’s 499.
Hanif Mohammad’s First-Class career ended with an avg. Of 52.32 and 55 centuries. He was also able to bowl with both arms and also kept wickets.
