Committee to recommend measures to upgrade stadiums

PCB has set up a committee to recommend measures to upgrade Pakistan’s stadiums where international matches are played. The committee’s mandate would comprise the following tasks:
a. to make the stadiums spectators friendly by improving conditions for shade, clean water, seating and hospitality boxes, toilets, ticketing booths, security
b. increasing spectator capacity
c. ensuring ICC standards are met
d. beautifying stadiums through landscaping
e. ground, pitches, equipment, scoreboards, lights, media facilities
f. ensuring grounds are under PCB control.
The committee will comprise the following:
- Brig (R) Pervez Akhtar Mian, Convener
- Mr Sami-ul-Hassan Burney
- Mr Naved Cheema
- Mr Azhar Khan
- Mr Zahid Hussain, Secretary to Committee.
The committee would be free to co-opt architects, consultants, landscaping horticulturists in fulfilling its task.
The committee is being tasked to make its recommendations by 20th December 2004.
