PCB certified Level-I coaching course concludes
PCB Media Release – November 30, 2004
- 1. The first-ever PCB Certified Level I Coaching Course concluded at the National Cricket Academy on 30 November 2004. The closing session was also attended by the Chairman, PCB who termed the successful conclusion of the course, a land mark beginning of a new era in development of the game of cricket in Pakistan. The Chairman expressed hope that soon all institutions, departments and regional teams will have qualified coaches who would know the intricacies of the specialised field of coaching, neglected thus far in Pakistan. He also said that the employment of qualified coaches at the grass roots level, will refine the raw talent at a young age and help them in improving their skills as they grow.
- 2. Mr Daryl Foster, the Chief Tutor of the course said, “For Pakistan it was an epoch making moment and instead of depending on outside help, it has been rightly chosen to move forward by developing its own indigenous Coach Education Programme.” According to Mr Foster, “this was the most important step in putting cricketing structures in place in Pakistan. Soon Pakistan’s cricket at all tiers would feel the impact of this programme. The coaches having qualified from this programme should soon commence imparting training to clubs and first class teams and the difference in those critical stages of development would be quite discernible.”
